Open Letter.

From Gabby Giuffre. Aptos High School. University of San Diego.

Dear Family,

Thank you for everything you have taught me over the past few years. I have learned what it means to be apart of not just a basketball family but a family. Thanks to West Valley I have made life long friends and made memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I would like to say thank you too all the coaches who have since day one of walking on to the west valley court pushed me to be the best version of myself. I will hold on to all the lessons each and everyone of u taught us and I will carry them with me as I take on the next part of my journey. And to the girls, my teammates, thank you for the endless laughs and memories I have with all of you. I have meet so many incredible girls who have become my family, I love each and everyone of you sooo much. I wish want nothing but the best of all of you and i can’t wait to see where your journeys will take you.

To those girls who are still in the program my advise to you is take it all in and enjoy the the process. Soak up as much as you can from the coaches and your teammates. Take every single opportunity you can to learn because you are surrounded by amazing people who each will teach you something. Those who are in the gym with you grinding it out every weekend they will be the ones at the end of the day who push you hardest but will also be your biggest supporters. So take the love and support you have from them and never stop grinding. The coaches and girls will always be there to watch you succeed and support you through your whole journey till you do just that, till you succeed. But my biggest piece of advice is to enjoy the process. Enjoy every moment of it because one day it will end, one day you will wake up and there will be no more west valley practices to go to, there will be no more tournaments to play in. I mean it enjoy every second of it enjoy the workouts that kick your butt; enjoy the memories you make with your teammates; enjoy the recruitment process; just enjoy the process. Because the journey you are on is like no other it will be hard and stressful but it is also incredible and in the end it is completely worth it. So to all the girls please enjoy every moment because it goes by so fast and before you know it it’s all over.

Thank you for everything West Valley did for me but most of all thank you for being my family.

So much love,
Gabby Giuffre

Aww, how sweet. Could have used a proofread, but very nice all the same.
I learned so much from playing with you last summer and I hope that I can become half the leader you are. You were able to bring everyone together both on and off the court and backed it up by being one hell of a basketball player. You are going to do amazing things in college and I can’t wait to see you play at the next level.

Oh Gabby, I’m going to miss you so much. You were like a big sister to me. You would always guide me and uplift me through tough losses. You’re a great leader and role model. I’m so glad we were able to connect through the game of basketball. You have always challenged me in practice and always made me work harder. Miss you so much and I can’t wait to watch you ball up in SD!
